Worship at St Barnabas
Worshipping God together is the heart of our community life. St Barnabas’ Church was designed as a visual image of God’s glory and intended to connect us with very ancient Church traditions (it is based on a 7th century church in Venice).

Sunday High Mass
Our main act of worship is on Sundays at 10,30am. Our Sunday High Mass is characterized by traditional ceremonial, beautiful ritual, uplifting music and preaching and teaching which is engaged and powerful. Our liturgy is formal but our atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Children of all ages are welcome. We have a thriving Sunday school and creche and a children’s corner. We offer hospitality to everyone after the Mass.

Daily Office and Mass
We gather at 9.00am on Monday to Friday for a focussed time of devotion from the Book of Common Prayer. This lasts about 15 minutes. Daily Mass times vary from day to day, but it usually lasts about 25 minutes. It sometimes includes a short devotional homily, and on solemnities and feasts, there are often hymns or a choir. Click the button above to find out the latest times of Mass for the forthcoming weeks.
Our services celebrate the rich historic tradition that the building was designed for – in what the ministers wear, in movement and ritual, in what the congregation and choir say and sing. When we get it right it transports you out of time and place and shows you something of the nature of God. We think our particular gift is that we do all this while remaining family-friendly and unstuffy – we love creating opportunities for children to join in many ways in the life of the Church.
