Woman why are you weeping?
“Woman why are you weeping?” is a devotional art installation for Holy Week and Easter 2023 at St Barnabas Jericho. Using five original paintings by a member of our congregation - the celebrated artist Celia Montague, we shall reflect on the interplay of the gospel narratives of the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus and the work of a contemporary Christian artist.
The paintings will be the basis of four devotional homilies over the Triduum
from the Vicar of St Barnabas Jericho, Fr Christopher Woods. Scroll down past the images to download the sermons

Easter Eve: (The Road to Emmaus)
Easter Sunday: (Woman why are you weeping?)
The two paintings, Woman why are you weeping?, and The road to Emmaus, came into being because I was trying to imagine answers to the question of why Jesus was not recognised when he appeared after his resurrection.
